To align with the 2025 theme of the Fangshi Grand Prix, ‘Connecting Dots:,’ the visual concept replaces traditional circular interpretations of ‘dots’ with small text. Through a digital generation visual inspired by terminal machines, large amounts of fragmented text are transformed into ASCII art (character encoding) style. The font and spacing used in the main visual poster mimic the monospaced generation style of terminal machines, presenting an interface style reminiscent of the XEROX, IBM, and DOS eras. The text is dynamically generated through page refreshes, piecing together words to reflect the accumulation and evolution of digital energy.
Additionally, the text in the image flows continuously toward the centre like a river, creating a visual impression of ‘all rivers flowing into the sea’ and resources accumulating to form the main visual title. To further align the overall atmosphere with coding patterns, the fonts for the codes and titles primarily use English as the main language of expression, evoking the digital ambiance of the DOS interface in the digital world.
In terms of colour, to echo the spirit of digital development and the concept of a terminal, this year's colour scheme features a blend of ‘steel blue’ and ‘mint green’ as the primary tones. These colours are paired with white on a black background to create a digital-inspired visual aesthetic: steel blue evokes rationality, smart, and sleek. The exterior walls of apartments converted from industrial buildings are often steel blue, and IBM's brand identity, as well as the default colours of Windows 2000 and XP desktops, have also been steel blue. Additionally, the addition of ‘mint green’ tones adds a lively, fresh, and vibrant quality to the visual design, emphasising the resilience of new beginnings and the fluidity of connection.
